Brilliant staff. All extremely friendly and great English. Spa was great, husband and I both had a lovely massage. Indoor pool was a huge bonus and heated to a very nice temp. Welcoming and supportive of us bringing young baby with us. Very clean throughout. Lovely kids area and kids pool including 2 small slides. Buffet breakfast was great, can order omelettes, fried eggs and pancakes to be made on the spot. A La Carte food was very good but small portions. Bar menu good and nice cocktails.

A beautiful building - it was formerly a convent in a magnificent location. Views were spectacular and we enjoyed an early morning visit to the local markets for fresh fruit and bakery items. We loved the location high above the newer parts of the city. Breakfast was plentiful. Nothing was a trouble for the staff. We did not use the hotel parking as we found a park on the street right near the hotel.

A very enjoyable experience all round. The welcome and introduction to the hotel by the reception staff was brilliant and totally informative. The room was clean, spacious and the beds extremely comfortable. This hotel with all the charm, character and quality that it offers gave us one of the best experiences we have enjoyed in quite a while. The only down side for us was that we wish we had stayed for a couple of nights longer such was the enjoyability of The Vila Gale Collection at Elvas!

An old convent which was converted to a hotel recently, so it was beautiful and clean. Our room was very spacious. We dined lightly at their bar with friendly staff and good food. One of the nights, we were lucky to listen to a local folk music group who were practicing for the upcoming town's fair. We would definitely come back to this property if returning to Elvas in the future.

This was an absolutely gorgeous hotel! From the moment we arrived the staff were all so happy to ensure that we had a great stay, even giving us a lovely room upgrade which was very much appreciated. Our accommodation was in an historic building with a varied history, including a former life as a convent. the rooms were all very lovely with lots of space. The hotels facilities were all excellent, from the gorgeous indoor and outdoor pools, the beautiful grounds, a lovely restaurant and a great breakfast.

Incredibly fascinating history attached to this wonderful hotel. Room & facilities were great. Clean & spacious. Friendly staff with a great bar & restaurant too. Food was excellent. Breakfast couldn’t have been better with every taste catered for with professional attentive staff to unobtrusively help too. The hotel has lots of calm & quiet areas to relax in. Pool looked very inviting on a hot summers eve. Would definitely recommend. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Interesting building - a 17th C nunnery that later was used as a military base and is now a really excellent hotel. Our bedroom was large, quiet and with comfy bed. The heated indoor pool - part of a gym and spa complex- was much enjoyed! The hotel is inside the old town, just a short walk from the castle and for us as Brits the English cemetery was a fascinating insight to the 1811/12 battles led by Wellington. We loved Elvas!

Beautiful property, large rooms. Views of the ancient walls from our room. The courtyard was so peaceful to sit out in and sip a glass of wine. The hot tub was relaxing. It was convenient to see the 2 forts.

It's a really, really beautiful hotel. It's a joy walking around. Rooms are spacious, beds are very comfortable, large pool area with sufficient beds and the wellness is great. Breakfast has a lot of options with freshly made eggs and pancakes. Absolutely recommended
